An introduction to the importance of skin tone, the foot in diabetes and the foot in Chronic Kidney Disease: how to assess and refer high-risk feet onwards to the Lewisham Foot Health Service with Dr Chris Manu, Consultant Diabetologist & General Medicine, King's College Hospital, Daina Walton, Long Term Conditions Clinical and Care Professional Lead (Lewisham) and Gemma Fitt, Lead Diabetes Podiatrist, Foot Health Service

In 2024, Diabetes Africa published a handbook titled, 'Diabetes footcare in dark skin tone'. This presentation will introduce attendees to the resource and the importance of skin tone assessment in day to day practise. It will discuss the burdens and risks associated with the diabetic foot and introduce the similarities and outcomes of the foot in Chronic Kidney Disease. Referral pathways for high-risk feed to Lewisham Foot Health Service will be outined and options to support patients who are not eligible for ongoing podiatric care by the NHS will be discussed.
