This practice has achieved measurable improvements in access, efficiency and outcomes by adopting new systems early, reducing appointment backlogs, and collaborating closely with its patient participation group and community partners. Its commitment to continuous improvement, continuity of care, and global engagement makes it a standout example of excellence and leadership in primary care. 

GP of the Year

Dr Ed Morris, Novum Health Partnership

Described as a doctor who exemplifies outstanding clinical excellence, leadership and compassion. Since joining the practice they have significantly enhanced staff morale and patient experience through an inclusive, respectful and innovative approach. Their commitment to patient-centered care, professional development and quality improvement has transformed the practice culture, earning deep trust from both colleagues and the community. 

Practice Manager of the Year

Sandra Younsi, Vale Medical Centre 

Described as an exceptional and approachable practice manager who consistently goes above and beyond to support the team and ensure excellent patient care. They demonstrate outstanding leadership, foster a positive and collaborative work environment, and actively promote staff well-being and work-life balance. Their dedication, empathy and hands-on approach make them a true role model and an invaluable asset to both the practice and wider system in Lewisham. 

Practice Nurse of the Year

Rebecca Corneck, The Lewisham Care Partnership

An exceptional nurse with over 20 years of dedicated service, consistently delivering outstanding patient care and mentoring colleagues to achieve their best. They go above and beyond by supporting patients in managing chronic conditions, guiding new staff, and advocating for professional development within the team. Their passion, leadership and commitment to innovation have made a lasting impact on patient outcomes, team morale and numerous successful projects across the practice and wider system in Lewisham.

Administrator of the Year

Oriana Rafael, The Lewisham Care Partnership

Described as an individual who consistently goes above and beyond in their role, demonstrating exceptional dedication, professionalism and compassion toward both patients and colleagues. They are a trusted problem solver and leader who creates a welcoming, efficient environment while taking on additional responsibilities to improve practice operations. Their kindness, reliability and unwavering commitment make them an invaluable team member and truly deserving of this recognition.

Extended Practice Team Member of the Year

Amit Luthra, Clinical Pharmacist, Lewisham Alliance PCN

Described as someone trusted by patients and respected by colleagues, this individual delivers evidence-based care, mentors teams and leads innovative projects that improve health outcomes. Their dedication, humilty and commitment to collaboration make them a truly deserving candidate for this award. 

The People's Choice Award

Dr Taj Singhrao, GP, Deptford Medical Centre/New Cross Health Centre

With multiple patient nominations and consisently praised for their exceptional compassion, professionalism, and dedicatin to patient care, creating a safe and reassuring environment for every visit. Described as someone who always listens attentively, explans medical information clearly and goes above and beyond to ensure patients feel valued, supported and empowered. 

Innovation in Health Award

Aplos Youth and Wellbeing Clinic

This innovative service offers longer, dedicated appointments for 11-19 year-olds to address mental and physical health needs through a strengths-based approach. Young people can self-refer or be booked by their GP with care plans developed including follow-up, specialist referrals and links to community support. The clinic aims to improve health literacy, prevent future harm and reduce inequalities. 

System Collaboration Award

 Primary/Secondary Care Interface Group

Dr Knight/Dr Jetha/Sandra Younsi,

John O'Donohue (LGT)/Tom Hastings (LGT)

Established to improve collaboration and trust, strengthen communication and enhance patient care while reducing unnecessary workload across both GP practices and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, this initiative has already delivered quick wins such as better contact-sharing systems, an "inappropriate request" process, a WhatsApp group for rapid issue resolution, podcasts for shared learning, a 'walk in my shoes' programme and joint grand rounds. 

Inspiring Leader Award

Dr Helen Tattersfield, Oakview Family Practice 

Having held numerous leadership roles across Lewisham over the years including CCG Chair, PCN Clinical Director and Chair of The Lewisham Primary Care Leadership Forum, this individual has shown exceptional leadership and dedication to the borough, consistently advocating for patients and fostering strong partnerships. They have inspired positve change through vision, empathy and collaboration. Their relentless commitment to improving outcomes makes them a truly deserving winner of this award.

Debbie Brown - MBE

2024 New Year's Honours List

 

Many congratulations to Debbie Brown, SELWDH's Director of Nursing and our very own incredible Clinical Director, for her well-deserved spot on the 2024 MBE Honours List. 

 

This is an enormous and much deserved achievement in recognition of Debbie's outstanding service to general practice nursing.

 

Debbie is an experienced nurse of over 47 years, almost 30 of which have been spent in primary care, within general practice as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner.

 

Debbie founded Lewisham CEPN Training Hub in 2017 to provide a range of training and development opportunities for all staff groups.

 

Debbie was born and raised in Lewisham, trained at Lewisham Hospital, continues to work in Lewisham and is passionate about the borough and the people who live and work here.

 

Debbie is shown on the right, following receiving her MBE from Princess Anne on Wednesday 17th April 2024.
